Cindy Dauer grew up in Edmonds, Washington. She spent the summers traversing the rugged islands of northern Puget Sound and exploring ghost towns and abandoned mining camps in the North Cascades.

For college she moved to the Bay Area and studied media and culture at San Francisco State University. Next it was on to the Oregon Coast where she worked as a reporter at the Cannon Beach Gazette, covering a wide variety of topics.

Continuing her writing and education, Cindy moved inland to Corvallis, Oregon, a small but metropolitan university town in the Willamette Valley where she worked and studied for several years.

Most recently, her journey has taken her to Hillsboro, Oregon where she continues to promote the arts, write, teach, and volunteer.
